Designed for the high school classroom, these engaging presentations address life issues that are related to various subjects and curriculums. Most often given in English, biology, and theology classrooms, these lessons engage students in a variety of ways and help them make connections between faith and life. Designed for in-person weekend retreats or online gatherings of high school and college youth, the Y4Life Apologetics course takes youth through eight sessions that discuss theological truths and how to apply them to life issues and arguments. Through modeling and practice, youth gain experience in how to uphold life using Gospel-motivated biblical, logical, and philosophical approaches as well as how to have charitable conversations rather than aggressive arguments. Open to all Lutheran high school students and Y4Life Teams, this retreat teaches high school students how to be leaders 4Life on their high school campuses. Youth learn basic techniques and practices for speaking from a Gospel-motivated perspective, discover how to build an effective leadership team, and begin planning for the coming year. This retreat also offers opportunities for groups to share ideas and meet other 4Life youth across the nation. Space is limited to 40 participants! Open to college students on Lutheran campuses or connected to Lutheran campus ministries, this retreat addresses the unique challenges of promoting life Issues and supporting Y4Life Teams on a college campus. Students learn about the nine characteristics of a healthy Life Team and are given practical ways to establish a consistent mission and maintain a Gospel-motivated approach to life ministry. Participants will also discover how to zero in on appropriate life missions for their communities and exchange ideas and techniques with college students from across the nation. This year’s Y4Life Summit is scheduled for Concordia Ann Arbor, and it’s going to be filled with educational sessions and hands-on opportunities to support life. If so, Chats 4 Life is for you! Chats 4 Life offers young adults opportunities to connect via Zoom with other 4Life youth from across the nation. During these sessions on the first and third Thursdays of each month, youth are invited to network, ask questions, and engage in discussion about contemporary Life issues. Guided by Y4Life Director, Michelle Bauman, and other LFL national employees, this experience gives youth opportunities for real-time answers to Life ministry questions. Do you have a burning question or real-life situation that involves a life issue? Do you need advice as to how to speak from a Gospel-motivated perspective in an angry, anti-life world? If so, then What about . . . Mondays? is for you! Every second Monday of the month, students gather together on Zoom to talk about life issues they’d like to address. Based on youth questions and interests, Michelle Bauman and other members from LFL’s national staff help youth find a 4 Life answer to the problems the world tries to solve with death. Through practice and conversation, youth learn to address life issues from a Gospel-motivated perspective and share that perspective and hope with others.
