Psalm 105:1-2,5- “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! … Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered.” The psalmist goes on to tell the stories of God’s promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the ways He saved the people of Israel over and over again. The Lord saved them from the Egyptians, led them through the wilderness, saved them from enemy nations, and more. He has done truly awesome deeds! Psalm 105 ends with, “Praise the LORD!”

Is that not clear enough? We are to praise Him for all of His mighty deeds and His miracles! When He wondrously parts the red sea for you, brings you out of slavery, and sends manna and quail when you’re hungry in the wilderness!

Maybe you’re thinking, I’ve never been to the red sea, and I’ve never been a slave, and the only thing I’ve seen fall from the sky is water. God just doesn’t perform miracles like that anymore! Yet, the psalmist says, “make known his deeds among the peoples.”

Is God still working miracles today, even if they aren’t as big as the ones we read about in the Bible? The answer, of course, is yes! Take a moment to think about the deeds He has done in your life. I’ve seen God work some amazing miracles in my life. The most obvious one is my health. I suffered for years with a chronic condition that I thought was going to disable me for life, but God has worked so much healing in me and continues to heal me every day through skilled doctors and supportive family and friends.

When I think about it, He has done many other awesome deeds, too! He has parted the red sea of lies we hear from the devil so that we can walk on the dry ground of His truth in the Bible. He has delivered us from slavery to sin! (John 8:34-36) And each day He provides our daily bread so that we never need to worry about what we will eat. (Luke 12:22-24)

There are so many ways that God works miracles in our lives every day. He is the Creator of the world, and He has never abandoned us, even for a moment. He continues to sustain creation by keeping us alive, making the sun shine, and the earth go round. And the greatest deed that God has done was sending His Son Jesus to live on this earth, suffer and die at the hands of sinners, and triumphantly rise again so that we may be completely forgiven and live with Him forever. That is pretty amazing. Let us, like the psalmist encourages us to do, recognize all of the blessings that He has given us and the miracles He works in our lives. Let us praise Him without ceasing!

God of Miracles, thank You for the many blessings You have given to us and for the miracles You perform every day. And thank You most of all for Jesus and the gift of salvation You gave us through His sacrifice. Please give us grateful hearts to praise You always. In Your Son’s name we pray, Amen.
